What is Ignite?
Fast-paced, fun, thought-provoking, social, local, global—Ignite is all of these and more. At its most basic, Ignite is a series of high-energy, five-minute talks by people who have an idea—and the guts to get on stage and share it with the world. Ignite events are run by local volunteers who are connected through the global Ignite network. Ignite is a force for raising the collective IQ and for building connections. And, due to the marvel of digital video and the Internet, the archived videos of Ignite talks can spread an individual’s knowledge and passion with the world.
Imagine that you’re in front of an audience about to present a five-minute talk on the thing you’re most passionate about. You’ve brought 20 slides, which advance every 15 seconds whether you’re ready or not. You have a few last-minute butterflies, but off you go—and the crowd loves it. Welcome to Ignite.
What is Ignite HR?
Ignite HR is about bringing the format and energy of Ignite and unleashing it on the world of Human Resources. We will leverage the passion and power of the Ignite format to light a fire of HR Reinvention.
We’re planning for six to eight five-minute Ignite presentations at the beginning of HR Reinvention, so we’re seeking presenters. You do not have to be a professional speaker or even an amateur speaker, you just need to be passionate about an idea and willing to speak to it in front of a group of your peers. One of the reasons that Ignite is such a powerful vehicle for change is the great diversity of speakers, topics, styles, and presentation experience that make up an Ignite experience. 5 minutes, 20 slides, 15 seconds per slide. As far as rules go, that is about all there is. One more thing, this is about ideas, not sales pitches. No selling, no exceptions.
